THE HISTORY AND ROMANCE OF DANVILLE JUNCTION

Re-print of the 1942 book "History and Romance of Danville Junction"

Background
In 1942 the book, History and Romance of Danville Junction, was published. Only 250 of the books were printed by Interstate Printing. The book is rare and hard to find and if you have one you are fortunate.

The Project
In January 2006 the C&EI Historical Society published a reprint of the book. This book relates the railroad history of Eastern Illinois/Western Indiana and Vermilion County, Illinois from the coming of the first railroad to the death of Danville Junction in 1919. It is a book that you can learn how your relatives came to America and traveled by rail to settle in the Midwest. It was written by two men who lived during that time and put their memories down in writing. This history is not only of the C&EI but the Wabash, the P&E and other railroads in the vicinity of Danville, Illinois.
